A close relative to quinoa, canihua (or kaniwa) is a nutritious seed grown in the highlands of Peru. Canihua is smaller than quinoa but contains even more protein, iron, magnesium and calcium. Canihua has a nutty flavour, and is slightly milder, sweeter and crunchier than quinoa. To prepare it, simply rinse and boil, then add to stir-fries, soups, stews or serve it on its own as a side dish. We import our canuhua from Agro Condor in Peru.
